About the event
Having witnessed numerous Christmas plays, we're accustomed to the portrayal of the three wise men – figures adorned in long robes, beards, and elaborate turbans, coexisting with shepherds in nativity sets. Perhaps you've received a Christmas card featuring them, depicted either kneeling at Jesus' crib or journeying across the desert on camels, Despite their familiar presence, the term "magi" remains somewhat elusive.
Scholars clarify that these individuals weren't necessarily kings, their number is uncertain, and they didn't arrive on the night of Jesus' birth. Notably, they belonged to a different religion and ethnicity, yet they sought Jesus, the newly born king of the Jews. This day is the day we observe "Epiphany Sunday. The term "Epiphany" itself means "manifestation" or "revelation" and is primarily associated with the visit of the Magi (also known as the Wise Men or Three Kings) to the baby Jesus. This event is celebrated as a revelation of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, symbolizing the recognition of Jesus not just by the Jewish people, but by all of humanity.
